Urban meditation

I hear the footsteps of London,
a whisper really, through
a half-woven sleep;
a word softly spoken,
a smile courteous and brief.

Who walked down here,
this cloudy alley,
with rows of brown-brick façades
and lushly leafed genies?

Did he too,
turn this corner
at that old fountain,
and stood,
and quietly
oh quietly,
felt the pulse
of the generations after
generations,
who came here gently musing?

Angst

Schwarz ist diese.

Braun ist diese,

die werdende,

die lähmende,

die auf eurem Stirn schwebende,

die auf eurem Rucken kriechende,

die überzeugende

Dunkelheit.

Ladet sie ein, Freund.

Umarmet sie,

Küsstet sie!

da sie wird euch lehren,

dass jenseits seinem Schatten,

der Geist leuchtet

wie der Vollmond,

der sich auf stillem See

spiegelt.

Lac Léman

a meditation

Breathe in…
Lapislazuli horizon drapes
the feet of snowy peaks.
Flawless azure of heaven
puffs of white wool exhale,
evaporating.

Breathe out…

Breathe in…
Hardly a wave,
mountainous reflections
ripples by a seagull’s passing
a lonesome dandelion drifts
through a swan’s gracious gaze.

Breathe out…

Breathe in…
A threat is foreboding!
Assembling and consolidating,
ominous intentions gather over
blue hills and
shadows of a distant city;
Approaching, approaching.
A threat is imminent!

Breathe out…

Breathe in…
As if deep underneath,
a monster is awakening.
The lake stirred.
Subversive forces are throbbing
underneath,
with every heavy panting
of wind.

Breathe out…

Breathe in…
The storm is all out.
Dark currents crash into each other,
in agonizing combats.
Giant corpus of water
throws its whole weight
against the rocky shore;
shattered into pieces and drops!
yet unrelenting.
Again,
and again!

Breath out…

Breathe in…
In the thick of battles
between nature’s forces,
a solemn feathered queen rides the wave;
as if the turmoil
is but an ancient hymn
whispered to her in a rhythm
not known to human beings.

Breathe out…

Breathe in…
As rapidly as it arrives
the storm gives in and ceases.
Rays of sunshine breaks through the cloud,
wiping away blots of shadow on the lake.

The swan queen takes off.
Drops glitter on her stainless wings.

Breathe out…

And there,
she takes leave…
My heart follows her
until her spirit gently vanishes
among the majestic peaks.

Breathe in…
